DIY Hand Sanitizer
You can make your own hand sanitizer at home with just 3 ingredients. While washing your hands is the best option for clean hands, sometimes water and soap is not accessible.
Make sure to wash your hands before you start mixing up these ingredients. Clean hands will surely keep germs out of the mix. This recipe will make more than enough for a few 4oz. bottles. Mix the ingredients in a clean glass mixing bowl.
What you’ll need:
• 2/3 cup 99% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
• 1/3 cup Aloe Vera Gel
•15-20+ drops essential oils
Make sure your containers are clean and sterilized before pouring your mixture into them.
If you divide the batch into smaller bottles, make sure that you use clean tools, like funnels, when transferring. You must wait at least 72 hours before using the sanitizer. This gives the mixture a chance to cure.
For hand sanitizer to effectively kill germs, 60% of alcohol is needed. This recipe yields about 75% alcohol content.
A special instrument called an alcoholmeter can test levels if you’re unsure.
